Essential James Principles
During the month of January and first Sunday of February The Church at Martinsburg went through a teaching series entitled ‘Essential James’. It’s 5 weeks, 5 principles, one book, and that’s it. A fresh approach to spiritual growth straight out of the book of James. We started the series at the same time we transitioned into a new meeting facility. As the church moved and started a new year it was (and is) important to practice the faith we hold so dear. While we have a high regard for theological truth we have little tolerance for dead orthodoxy.
Below you will find the principles from the series.
Principle 1 – 01.10.10 | James 1:5-8
Wisdom comes from God and it enables you to live a life pleasing to God and at peace with others.
Principle 2 – 01.17.10 | James 1:13-18
Temptation does not come from God, but the strength and ability to resist temptation does.
Principle 3 - 01..24.10 | James 1:22-27
The combination of hearing and doing the word represents spiritual growth and maturity. One compliments the other, but separate both are lacking.
Principle 4 - 01.31.10 | James 3:1-12
From the same mouth comes blessing and cursing. In order to speak blessing we must be controlled by God and not by our flesh.
Principle 5 - 02.07.10 | James 4:1-11
Principle-based living is action oriented. In order to live a life pleasing to God you must start with submission and walk the line of obedience.
You can listen to the messages where these principles were developed and explained here.
