Why Martinsburg?
Why did we choose Martinsburg, WV?Martinsburg was chosen as a strategic location. Within 30 miles of Martinsburg are the cities of Hagerstown, MD, Charles Town, WV, Shepherdstown, WV, and Winchester, VA.
Each of these cities will be targeted as future church planting sites. Martinsburg is also home to the final destination of the MARC train out of Maryland. This train provides quick commuting capabilities from eastern WV and Western Maryland into Washington, D.C. The vision is that through prayer, time, resources, and strategy, churches can be planted in the cities mentioned, but also in the heart of the nation’s capital over the next two decades.
Berkeley County, where Martinsburg is located, is the fastest growing county in West Virginia and has increased nearly 37% in population since 2000. In 2008 the population of Berkeley County was 103,883 and the population is expected to climb to 126,372 by 2013.
The harvest is plentiful and the Lord is sending people out.
