Active Membership vs. Official Membership
We do not view membership as simply being on some list in the church office. Membership is about joining a family that is united in belief, vision, and purpose in order to experience Christ and share Him with the world.
Anyone can sign his or her name on a role. That is why at The Church at Martinsburg we believe in being an active member. The primary reason to become an active member would not be to gain personal advantage or benefit, but to identify with the characteristics of biblical maturity. Active membership is a reminder and symbol of our responsibility to participate in the life of the church and to live a life centered on Jesus Christ.
What makes an active member?
- They are committed followers of Jesus Christ.
- They support the church with their time, energy, and generous giving.
- They protect the unity of the church.
- They participate in the fellowship and ministries of the church.
- They participate in each of the 4 G’s (growth, groups, giving, gifts).
