OP:THX FAQ’s

What is OP:THX?

OP:THX (Operation Thanks) is a mission effort of the Church at Martinsburg to love our city and serve our neighbors. The City of Martinsburg is a rapidly growing city with an increasing population living in poverty, some of whom are unemployed or underemployed. OP:THX is a wonderful opportunity for us to impact our community by providing turkeys and meeting people.

How many frozen turkeys are needed?

Our goal for 2024 is to collect 304 frozen turkeys. Since OP:THX began in 2009, our church has provided Over 6,400 turkeys to local families in need.

When/Where is OP:THX?

OP:THX is a 2-day event. Starting Friday, November 22nd at 6:30pm in the 50 Monroe Parking lot. You will drop off your turkeys, enjoy tacos, games, dancing, and more! On Saturday, November 23rd, we will gather at 8am to begin setting up in the 50 Monroe parking lot to prepare to hand out Turkeys to the local community at 9am.

What happens during OP:THX?

A lot happens during OP:THX! On Friday night, we receive all the frozen turkeys, store the turkeys that we are handing out the next day, and have fun together! We do all this while enjoying a taco party, games, and spending time with our faith family. Be sure to bring drinks, a dessert, and chairs to share. View the OP:THX Map for Friday Night details on the next page. On Saturday, we serve as a church by greeting folks, talking with them, and handing out turkeys to get to know the people of our city.

How do I get involved and assist with OP:THX?

Initially, you can help by pledging to provide frozen turkeys. Whether you can afford to give 1 or 50, every turkey helps a family in need. Please tell your community group leader how many turkeys you are pledging. Not in a Community group? No problem, everyone is invited to participate!

You can also sign up to be a part of a serving team here!

What do we do with all these turkeys?

On Saturday, November 23rd starting at 9am we will hand out turkeys and connect with people from our community by serving them in hopes of sharing the gospel and making new relationships.
